Granted he still didn't have too much of a hand in the gang itself, choosing to remain on the outside in order to get easy money without getting his hands too dirty. But news always traveled fast in the gang, especially when it was juicy gossip.

Zander liked gossip. He couldn't help it. Apparently the most recent person to join the gang was someone rather infamous — or at least, came from an infamous family. Some high ranking Military officer's son, or something like that. The gangster didn't do well with too many details. Still, it was rather interesting that someone that came from a family like that was now part of the Jabberwockies — again, he didn't listen to details very well, or else he would have heard exactly why this 'Colton' person was now in the gang. Regardless, the first free day Zander had, he made it his mission to scout out exactly where he could find the newbie.

Curiosity killed the cat, after all.

It didn't take long for him to learn Colton apparently worked at the fighting arena located at their main headquarters. Truth be told, Zander had never actually gone to the headquarters' fighting arena before. He usually did his pick ups in some dark alley, and his deliveries in an equally dark alley. He never had a reason before to go, and the one time he had come around the area, he had met some high rank chick in the gang for a brief moment before leaving again. He was thankful, then, that he recognized at least a few faces hidden in the dark of the arena, and was able to ask for directions to get to the back rooms.

There, he met Cotlon. Or, more like, is pointed in the direction of a young looking man that's currently trying to feed one of the Infected. A wicked grin slides into place on Zander's face as he sneaks up behind Colton, taking exaggerated steps as though a spy as he slinks up. Only when he's close enough to reach out and and grab Colton's shoulder, does he finally announce his presence with:

It had been two weeks since that fateful encounter there in the outskirts. It was supposed to have been a simple transaction…that pistol for a pass into the city. He never would have imagined that he’d get tailed by the brigands or that they’d be intelligent enough to even manage to track him in the first place. Of course, that wasn’t his only regret.

He’d done a damn good job of hiding the truth of what he was to everyone, but that wound had ripped away the veil of his charade and he didn’t even have time to reassure Scout before having to take off. Of course, it wasn’t like she’d have even listened to him if he had been able to find the time. From what little he knew from their interactions; she was very headstrong.

She had also said she’d kill him. He didn’t necessarily doubt the vehemence in that statement. He didn’t much believe she’d find him, but he’d been wrong before…that very day in fact… so anything was possible.

Because of that, he’d waived off a couple of other scavenging runs that he was supposed to do with some people from Eclipse. It was safer just to spend time in the Abandoned town. He had temporarily considered heading out into the No-Man’s land for a while, but he ultimately decided against it. He was an urban creature now. The desolation didn’t agree with him. Not that much desolation anyway. Besides, it was a damn big town and he knew all of the hidey holes and other places to disappear to in it.

In fact, he was on his way back into the Abandoned Town now from the Junkyard. He’d gotten to one of his bolt holes only to find that it was missing some critical survival things. He hadn’t been able to restock this one, but it was one of his more out-of-the way ones, so it hadn’t been a priority, not until now.

In hindsight, he probably should have taken an alternate route away from the Eclipse base. There was a fair amount of traffic on this road and it was the same one that he often met his contacts at when taking them into the deeps of the town. It was one of the most predictable routes he could have taken if someone had any skill in finding out information.

Predictability and complacency led to mistakes. He’d drilled that idea into the heads of the soldiers he used to lead and yet here, now, he was falling prey to it. He hiked his pack up higher on his shoulder, eyeing the outskirts of the old town that he was just reaching.

”Just need another hour or so and I can kick back for a while,” he muttered to himself as he glanced around, pale eyes taking in the dense scrub and the edge of woods that gave way to the town itself. It wasn't long before he could make out the sight of Hudson High School and he idly wondered if he should dip inside before continuing on.

Brooklyn swiped a hand across the back of her forehead, flicking off a thin sheen of sweat into the distance. She’d been hard at work over the course of the afternoon, bent over half the broken items in the city trying to put them back together again. Though she and her sister lived in the Inner Citadel again, she continued to accept broken bits and bobs from anyone who wanted to bring her something. She was currently finishing the bent handlebars of an old bicycle. Admittedly she’d spent a ridiculous amount of time ringing the tiny bell on the bike to a beat only she could hear, until someone finally leaned out of one of their expensive windows and shot her a stern look.

The people in the Inner Citadel were so uptight, she truly wondered if they ever got tired of it. In some ways, it was better than the Outers because it was much nicer, much safer in the Inners. It was as if everyone had no sense of danger in the Inners, going about their lives worried about nothing. Either way, rich people had broken shit that needed fixing too, and as Brooklyn finished hammering out the last twist of the metal she decided she needed to take a break. Her back cracked when she stood up, it ached from all the stooping over projects. She wore an olive green jumpsuit--with pockets-- that she’d stitched together herself, and a pair of white, sturdy canvas slip-on shoes. She turned to go and get some water and cool off, when her foot tangled over something and she tripped, falling on her stomach hard.

“What the ass?” She hissed, crawling onto her knees and turning around to glare at the offending…weird box? There was a weird box on the ground, lying on its side innocently as if it hadn’t just given her a dirt smoothie. The box was metal, and appeared to have fallen from the basket connected to the old bike. The metal box was about the size of a large shoebox, and was wrapped with several rusted chains. Brooklyn crawled over to it, staring at the very rusted box, and lifting it up to shake it by her ear. There was clearly a sound but she couldn’t identify what might be in the box.

“What if there’s money in here? Mama’s getting paid extra!” Brooklyn said out loud to herself, getting a pair of bolt cutters and holding it to the chains,

“Alright, come on…” But the bolt cutters could not get through the thick, rusted chains or the lock. She threw the bolt cutters aside. Well That didn’t work. Second try, Brooklyn brought out a welding torch, trying to melt the chain off...which only succeeded in creating an even thicker, melted mess around the box.

“Listen box, I want whatever pot of gold is at the end of your rainbow box. I’m going to get inside of you, and when I do you’re going to wish I used luber first.” She said angrily at the box, throwing up her hands. It was time to bring out the big guns. The big, go boom kind.
The sounds of a raucous crowd fill the massive underground arena, punctuated only by the shouts and cries of a fight coming from the caged arena in the center of the room. It's human on human tonight for one's viewing pleasure, but that doesn't mean the fight is any less vicious. Death, in no uncertain terms, was not off the table — and it's precisely that, which brought The Butcher to the Spades tonight. Although a lingering fight has kept Deacon from the gang for many a night, he eventually found himself slinking back, in hopes of taking home something that night.

It didn't quite matter if it was dead or fresh.

The man lingers in the background of the arena, shrouded by darkness that help keep him relatively concealed from the rowdy crowd gathered to watch the slaughter. A glass is held loosely in one of his hands, the viscous liquid inside unusually thick for a normal alcoholic beverage — probably because it wasn't. Or at least, even though it was ordered as a Bloody Mary, it probably had a little too much Mary in it to be anything humans would think to order. That was one of the perks of a fellow Infected being in charge of a gang — they thought of everyone for their entertainment.

It wasn't like Deacon to seek comfort from a cold glass, but it was different from the norm. What was normally best served fresh and hot, could often take on a different taste when served chilled instead. Almost as if a connoisseur of such things, Deacon certainly did like to experiment. Besides, with the way the brutes were going at one another in the cage, he wouldn't be surprised if he'd have a warm drink tonight after all.

A scent lingering in the stagnant air catches Deacon's attention, his cruel, dark eyes shifting ever so slightly to pinpoint the scent's origin in the crowd. There. A loner standing at the edge of the crowd, close to the Staff Only doors meant for Jabberwockies' eyes only. Deacon can smell the distinct scent of human blood on the young man, even if it's not obvious where it's coming from. A small cut, hidden beneath clothing, perhaps? No matter. Whatever it was, it was enough to draw in the Hearts' butcher, gliding across the form in an ethereal fashion. He skirts the crowd, drawing up alongside the young man — ever so quiet.

"You have a bet on the fight tonight?" he questions with a low drawl, just a hint of an accent in his words. He's not really all that interested in an answer — but the guise of small talk is enough of an excuse to bring him closer to the delectable scent he'd picked up on from across the room.

KILLIAN x CROWLEY [ BLOOD MOON ]

Tonight was supposed to be just an ordinary lunar eclipse.

But something’s different this time around. The full moon is already high in the sky.
Clouds shroud it from sight one minute, and the next they’re gone, revealing the moon to
no longer be its usual white light, but rather something much more sinister. As though
bathed in blood, its reddish hue gives off a frightening appearance.

It’s a blood moon.

It's a late night in the City Outskirts.

Bounty hunter Killian McCaffrey ventures out of Stronghold that night in order to complete a hit. A man has taken residence near Rossdale Port, one that apparently angered the spouse they left- enough for them to seek out their death. However when Killian arrives at the scene, he finds his target dead and Crowley Wilde bent over the corpse, bloody hands and maw digging into the corpse's flesh.

For Crowley finds himself at the mercy of his feral, Infected instincts. His fangs had been forced out, eyes glowing menacing and yellow and human consciousness battling animal hunger. The man had not been special to Crowley, or known to him for that matter- he was simply at the wrong place, at the wrong time. A bounty hunter facing the man who killed his target; an Level V Infected at the mercy of the blood moon and his own hunger

Will they both go back home empty handed? Or will they seek to fill their need for vengeance and flesh?

Though it could not have anticipated the blood moon, the Military is quick to respond to overwhelming reports of heightened Infected activity. Dozens of Infected surround the outpost, clawing desperately at its concrete walls and clambering over one another in their wild hunt for the soldiers inside. It’s a late night in Stronghold.

Two men, normally unlikely to cross paths, happen to be in the same bar at the same time. Gray Pierre and Ian Donnaghan are enjoying the night and some drinks when the blood moon appears, casting a gruesome red light through the windows of the bar. The change hits the Level V Infected like a train, forcing them against their will to change into their more bestial side. Fangs come out and eyes glow in the dark; there is no mistaking their true nature now.

While the bar is not packed, it is filled with enough humans to become a mob of witnesses to the unfortunate circumstances of the blood moon. Their cries fill the air as they realize the danger they're in, and they panic. A stampede is formed as they desperately run for the exits, trampling one another as they try desperately calling out for Military intervention.

Anyone who leaves the bar, becomes a risk of exposing the two Infected....

It was October, and how the month had flown by so quickly, Affy could not really say. Her sons were growing so much that she barely recognized them. She was not sure she liked it. She was not sure she liked how much that they looked like their father, or the fact that they did some of the things that he did as well. It wasn’t anything too large or frustrating. It just worked her nerves a bit.

Something abut this time of year always made her think of Chris. She tried not to, fought against it really, but even when she walked through the Communal hall she couldn’t help but wonder if he would have fit in here. The glasses she had delivered were none of her business, nor was the amount of alcohol that people drank or didn’t drink. She was better off not knowing. It was better than she didn’t want to know.

It was something that had done well for her over the years, she had learned her place and she stuck to it. Flipping her long blonde ponytail over her shoulder she pulled her tight jeans up and stopped just as she heard her name called. ”Hm?”

No Man's Land. A place far enough from Stronghold that the walls only barely peeked up over the horizon. A place that Crowley had come from — very little signs of humanity amongst the hordes of Infected. It was almost a place of comfort for the Level V Infected... If only because it captured memories of when he had first awoken alongside his best friend.

Although the intention was to one day try and make his way inside the last standing city of humanity, a part of Crowley still worried for what would happen once inside. Would his inner beast terrorize the streets, slaughtering those in his wake like he did when he was nothing but a mindless, killing machine? He shutters to think of such a thing. That fear is what keeps him on the outside, and for the time being, he's content to simply wander around, looking for supplies and...
He still needs to feed.

Much as he loathes that part of him, it isn't always easy to contain the monster inside. It's how he currently found himself in such a predicament, mind warped and twisted with a bloodlust that only an Infected could know. Fangs remain hidden and his eyes are a normal sky blue, but that's all there is the hide his true self. He doesn't walk like a typical human, but rather stalks the darkness like an apex predator, hunting for its next target. Upon the highway sits a cluster of vehicles, rotted away to rusted frames that hint at a traffic jam from years past. It's the perfect place for the man to set up an ambush, the vehicles just screaming out the possibility of containing supplies. Something to draw drifters close.

Crowley's eyes catch movement as he stills his movements, watching for a few seconds before he finally catches sight of a man, moving between vehicles. A lone drifter, perhaps?

The Infected watches the man for a few more seconds before he finally moves out from behind a vehicle that was previously hiding his presence, his gait smoothing itself out to a feline grace as he approaches the man, his face expressionless and hiding his true self well. It's not until he's within a few paces of the man that he finally stops, silent all through his approach. Kill, his mind screams at him, his throat raw and hungry for the taste of human blood. But he contains himself.

"Friend? Or foe? he finally speaks, asking the man a question as a smooth grin stretches across his lips.

Winston slumbered beside him. His gentle snores soothed Killian, as would the braying of cicadas on a soundless night back before he found himself in the Stronghold. Kill enjoyed to watch the rise and fall of the sheep dog's stomach as he periodically tilted back a small, beat-up flask filled with whiskey. The whiskey was bitter, a concoction that tasted of poor quality, but it was better than anything you'd find outside of the Stronghold. Besides, it numbed him just as well as the "good" stuff his patrons would treat him with on occasion.

There he sat, on an overturned plastic bucket in a dirty, cramped alleyway. Clothesline hung over a gray, overcast sky and the occasional skitter of mice punctuated the rhythmic drip of water. It was that sad, solemn song the Slums crooned, day in and day out, a quiet and tired piece that had surrendered its hope long ago. Killian ran a thumb over the letters carved roughly in the center of that flask- "TM". Was this what he had given up the open and wild expanses of the outer world for? At least there, he was surrounded by signs of life- the chromatic butterflies that flutter over fields of high grass and herds of wild deer bounding through the trees' shadow. Here, it was gray- flat- defeated.

Bored of the flask, he set it down beside him and pulled out from his inner jacket pocket a harmonica. Winston's leg jerked in his sleep and pushed the flask backwards. It fell with a soft clunk and sent its amber contents spilling onto the ground, darkening the dirt beneath it. Killian sighed, bent down to scratch under the dog's floppy ear, and when he exhaled again, he did so into the harmonica. It wailed a slow and sorrowful note, though the tone was not unpleasant to the ear.

The sound hung in the air, on and on, until Killian slid his mouth up the harmonica and produced a higher note. And then the semblance of a song came. It was an old drifter's melody, one his father would hum under his breath, so the Infected would not hear. He and his sister would pick up on the second melody and together they'd finish in one low, melancholic knell. Here, though, the largest threat was a disgruntled neighbor. So the notes carried, down the alleyway, drowning out the skittering of rats and the dripping of water.
