Things would run as he expected them to and he could relax. At least that was how it should work. Then again he was forgetting a few key things. One, he was the Ace of Hearts and thus always in danger. Two, there were always people who would try something no matter where they were. Three, never let your guard down. These were simple things that he should have always kept in mind but he'd been cocky and over confident. Or maybe he was just so damn tired of constantly having to be on guard. It was an exhausting thing after all to try to keep his guard up that much.

He'd been drinking, he knew that much. But it hadn't been enough to make the room spin as badly as it was. But nothing seemed stable any more, least of all the arm wrapped around him and the body he was being pressed into. It smelled of… sour sweat and grease. It wasn't a pleasant scent and it upset his already on edge stomach. It made him groan and try to push away from the stranger. But he heard vague words and the arm tightened around him.

He managed to catch a glimpse of the room and his eyes locked on Fenris. Oh! Fenris! He liked Fenris. Fenris was good. He didn't want to smile but his lips curled into one anyway as he reached for the man, except they were a room apart and there was no way Fenris was reaching him. Not quickly anyway with how packed things were tonight.

Besides, the gross smelling body was pushing him down a hallway into a darkened nook in the wall. He didn't want to go and made a sound of protest but it was ignored and muffled as a hand moved over his mouth. Whatever drug they'd given him was making him feel hot and dizzy, his heart racing as he groaned and closed his eyes. Was it possible to be incredibly horny and nauseous at the same time? It would seem so because that was his current state.

He felt the cool wood of the wall at his back and sighed, slumping against it even as a body pressed against his front. He wrinkled his nose and made a disgusted sound, trying to push them away with arms that didn't want to cooperate. He could feel hands on his body, tugged at his clothing and slipping inside it. And he wasn't sure if he was speaking out loud or not as he kept saying the word no over and over again. He didn't want these hands touching him, and certainly didn't want them down his pants! Not that his overheated body was seemingly in agreement as his cock was hard. But that didn't mean anything with the drugs in his system making him that way, right? Right. Fuck that! He didn't want this gross smelling asshole touching him! But his brain was too fuzzy to stop him. Shit….

Too many people thought of nights as scary, full of spooks and haunts that crawled out of the destruction around them to strike fear into their hearts. It was frankly amusing as fuck if you asked Neilos. This world was already full of horrible things and the majority of that was the very humans that still existed. They were often far worse to each other than anything else could be. It was literally a human eat human world out here! Or, okay, zombie eat human. But then again he was pretty sure more than one person had purposefully left a person outside the protections of these walls in order to get rid of them without actually having to deal with them. It wasn’t like that was unheard of and it was certainly not a bad way to do it. No one would go looking for someone lost outside the wall and everyone would just accept that they were dead. And the rest of the time? Well enough people were forced into quite a few shitty situations here in the slums to qualify as humans being worse to other humans. So the things people should fear were the very people walking around alongside them.

Maybe that was why Neilos didn’t really have the same fear of exploring this area at night that others did. Or maybe it was just that he was too used to it. He owned an establishment down here and ran it well. The Red Door was his and he owed his fealty to the Hearts branch of the Jaberwockies. That meant he dealt in flesh and paid his dues but it also meant he was well acquainted with the seedy side of things. And he thought he’d seen it all.

Until he walked past a darker than average, really that wasn’t saying a lot here when everything was dark, and a sight greeted him that was strange as fuck. Was that someone… sucking on another person’s neck? Yeah, he was pretty sure his eyes were showing him that exact thing but it seemed weird. It wasn’t like they were making out, no hickies going on here. He was used to seeing that shit and that didn’t quite look like this. This looked… more like the guy was trying to suck the life out of the other figure. Okay, so maybe he was just really bad at making out? That was possible. Some people didn’t know how to properly leave a lover with marks that would highlight just the kind of fun they had the night before.

Of course he was somewhat of a judgmental perfectionist on all these things after all. As portrayed by the way he dressed and held himself. His back was straight and his shoulders back, chin up just slightly with a sort of confident pride that suggested he knew his own worth and wasn’t afraid to throw his weight around, minimal as it literally was. Every blonde hair was perfectly straight and fell like a waterfall of silk down his back, not a single sign of frizz or flyaway in sight. Make-up applied with precision as well as flare! Deep red lips and smokey eyes creating a memorable appearance for sure. Plus the flowing black fabric of what amounted to a kimono styled garment was all perfectly pressed and without a wrinkle in sight.

He kept watching for a few silent seconds before he moved into the mouth of the alleyway, walking as quietly as he could towards the very strange and unusual scene before him.

Slowly, the sun began to set below the walls of the stronghold, sending the slums into darkness with the exception of the strange red lights that dotted the doorways of some buildings. What was the point of such an annoyingly tacky color? Isabella had wandered into the red light district thanks to the directions of one of her trusted sources in her search for the wonderful Ace of hearts. She wondered if he wasn’t as tacky as those silly lights. Bella stuck out in the slowly dwindling crowd like a purebred locked in a pound full of mutts dressed like someone that had just left a grand event. Bella adorned a white dress that fell just above her knees and matching heels, wrapped tightly around her neck was a diamond necklace that only highlighted the gruesome scars that ran up the side of her neck and down her shoulder. Her arrogance was so painfully obvious, but her confidence in her surroundings was dwindling with the sun, well aware of what these people were capable of in the right circumstances. She traveled with a single guard and one of her loyal Dobermans. She made sure to let Leo know where she was going as well in case anything bad was to happen. At least he would know where to collect her body from.

Bella wasn’t dumb enough to move into Hearts territory looking to start trouble. She was, however, dumb enough to walk into a red light district with no idea of what that meant. She never had the forethought to question things like that, she just thought they were too poor to afford regular white lights or maybe that was all they provided on this side of the slums… while she was well aware that the hearts were a part of the sex trade as well as other much darker things. She wasn’t aware just yet that she was surrounded by brothels, she wouldn’t have been caught dead there if she had known…. In her mind, a brothel was an old wooden building with swinging doors and women of ill repute hanging out the windows in weird ruffled dresses calling men in like in the books she had read! She figured she was just in another neighborhood…boy was she wrong. The longer she was there, the later it got, the later it got the more people seemed to fill the already small space of the streets. It wasn’t long before she was separated from her guard as she wandered even deeper into the district.

She just wanted to meet the Ace of Hearts hours, but that was turning into an increasingly difficult job as the hour got later and later, soon she was so far lost that she didn’t recognize anything around her. Every time someone even brushed against her arm her skin felt like it was on fire. She hated it here, the streets were too narrow, there was no keeping people away. Her dog was quickly picking up on her stress and in turn becoming stressed out himself, snapping out more violently and unhinged now as he did his job trying to protect his owner. It was time to get off the streets, at least for now, she was tired, her dog was tired, and this was starting to seem like a lost cause. Seeing a few people file into a building with a red light, she figured maybe it was a hotel, pushing through the door herself in hopes of a place to stay for a few hours if not the night…boy was she wrong.

” I just need a room for the night, please., Her tone was soft though obviously tired, the confused woman near the door looked at Isabella in disbelief, unsure of what she meant but proceeded to lead her through the hall and to a room. It was set up like any bedroom would be, though unlike any hotel she had stayed at in the past things were awfully loud around her. Laughing, giggling, and moaning seemed to surround her. Any other time she would have turned her nose up at the sight of this room but she was so tired all she could do was accept her surroundings. She tied her dog to the dresser so he wouldn’t pester her for pets and plopped herself down belly first on the end of the bed, kicking her heels off as a sigh left her lips. Little did she know whispers were quickly moving through the brothel about some inner citadel bitch being up in one of the rooms. Before long news had spread through the entire building as they wondered if they should send someone up to her or not. Meanwhile, Isabella, Ace of Diamonds, is convinced she is trying to sleep in the world's worst and loudest hotel. If the damn banging in the room next door would stop she might get a little sleep in.

They didn't usually come to the red light distract. Eccentric as they were, Remus usually liked keeping to the Inner Citadel, where everything was bright and shiny and new. Down here was... Depressing. They could admit the red lights made everything look quite beautiful at night, but behind it all, they knew it was a much darker secret. The other Jabberwockies gangs really could be barbarians — Remus really didn't understand what it was that Neilos liked about the Hearts. Well, chances are he was just as eccentric as his older brother, and did it because it was something fun and interesting to dabble with at the time. Remus could understand that much. Isn't that why they were part of the Diamonds?

But tonight was a special occasion.

Remus had been rather lenient with a certain somebody thus far, but they'd had the wool pulled over their eyes one too many times to think it a coincidence at this point. No, they knew when they were being played for a fool, and Remus was not happy about it. It was about time they paid Fenris a personal visit, one that would surely prove to the man that he couldn't just ignore his debt and think everything would be fine and dandy. Remus may have more than enough money, but that didn't mean they liked just giving it out. Like a dragon, they lusted for their hoard.

Seeing as how tonight was the first time Remus made a trip personally down to The Doghouse, Remus decided to get dolled up for the occasion. Their normal trimmed beard was now gone, giving them a perfectly clean-shaven face to use as a canvas for their art. Golds and greens were splashed across their face in intricate linework, bringing their make-up far beyond what people of an ordinary lifestyle would normally wear. They loved adorning themselves in glitz and glam, and by the time they had finished painting themselves up, they looked completely different than how they normally did — while it wasn't on purpose, it made for a good disguise. Keep the dog from running away before they could leash it.

Their hair and dress was just as eccentric, with braided locks died red for the occasion, and attire that was much more gender fluid than masculine. Many a sex worker called out to them as they passed, but they had only one destination in mind. No others were paid any mind.

Remus doesn't stop until they reach their destination, the mood lighting inside the establishment making it quite clear what the theme of the club is. Remus lets out an approving whistle, a grin on their face as their eyes roam over the interior of the place, looking for the owner. Sadly he wasn't to be seen — with a client, perhaps? No matter. Remus knew how to get what they wanted. Gliding over to the front desk with the grace of a fae, Remus puts on the most charming smile possible.

"I'd love to spend the night with your finest," they purr, sliding some money across the desk — it was a sizeable amount, enough that the front desk worker's eyes just about bulge out of their head. Immediately they run off towards the back. Maybe it seems silly to pay the man they were about to strangle money out of but... Did Remus really intend on letting them keep that money? Hardly.

Hardly.
And today was one of those days for Puck. Everything stupid that could have happened had. Every dumb situation that could arrise, yeah it had arisen. And every dumb reaction people could have? You guessed it, they’d had it. He’d been dealing with one stupid flaming pile of shit situation after another and he was just do fucking done with it all. He aws so, so, so done. In fact he was honestly beyond done! He was washing his hands of all those situations and all those people who brought him into situations that didn’t need his attention. He was the freaking Ace! He didn’t need to be dealing with every little problem that arose!

He’d finally excited his office with a growl at his underlings that if any of them contact him for the next five hours then they could have an appointment with Deacon. Yes, that was a very real threat given what the man did for the Hearts and it was one that he fully well meant. Unless it was a true and utter emergency he did not want to be bothered and he was going to make that blindingly clear to anyone who so much as looked at him! Which was why he was also scowling like he wanted to disembowl the next person who opened their mouth to talk to him as he headed out.

There was one person and one place he knew he could go that would help soothe the nerves that were beyond frayed at this point. And he refused to consider why it was Fenris that had come to mind and why his feet had already started in that direction before he’d really considered where he wanted to go. Or why his heart leapt a bit at the thought and a smile was trying to tug its way onto his lips despite the fowl mood. It was just the sex, just the very good and very intense sex. Nothing more than that.

A notion that he kept telling himself even as he ran fingers through his blonde locks to tug them into some semblance of order, glancing in a window as he passed to check his reflection. No he was not making sure he looked presentable to go see a man who he was just visiting for a good time and some stress relief. Nor was he mildly regretting that all he’d worn for clothing that day was a pair of ragged jeans and a black t-shirt that stretched across his chest. At least the well worn black leather jacket looked pretty nice. But his boots were dusty and the rest of him looked less like the Ace of Hearts and more like the bouncer for one of the Heart’s run strip clubs… or maybe one of the rougher dancers or boys for pleasure. Well nothing to do about it now, especially as he’d actually reached Fenris’s place.

The Doghouse Strip Club was a place that Puck rather liked, and no not just because Fenris owned it and was to be found there. He just liked the vibe of the place, and felt more at home here than he did at Hearts HQ honestly. But he was not really what one thought when they thought of the head of a major branch of the Jabberwockies. He looked too young and acted too much like a himbo to come off as anything other than a bit of a jock out for a good time who was friendly enough and always smiling. But that was sort of the purpose of it all, to make people not consider him a threat.

At this point he was a familiar enough face around here that his arrival wasn’t questioned. He just lifted a hand at the bouncers as he passed them and headed inside. He paused long enough to let his eyes adjuts and seek out either a familiar form or a place to sit. It seemed the place to sit was what caught his attention first and he settled his ass down at the bar. He crossed his arms and rested them on the counter, leaning forward enough to lift his ass slightly from the seat of the barstool as he grinned at the bartender. ”Whiskey, neat, please and thank you.” Alcohol was for sure necessary but also he was sure Fenris would be there at some point and either find him or he could go find him once he’d gotten some whiskey in his system. And entirely because he’d had a rought day and not because he was maybe needing some liquid courage.
He'd heard about the Hearts Gang's change in leadership through the grape vine. A man of power, North liked knowing what was going on around him.
