Quilter parties were well known for being the best parties around. The family just knew how to throw a fun party! There were always good people around to talk to as well as good food and plenty of booze. And while the parties were always fun they were never what one might call ragers. Property damage wasn’t really a thing and people getting arrested not so much. Everyone tended to have a damned good time without having to go throw shit at things or otherwise cause a ruckus that no one wanted. Everyone wanted to be invited to the Quiller's parties and as ever Damon was rather pleased he was invited. Though this time he was also a bit surprised, though of course he was going!

He’d even shaved and dressed up slightly for the party, no reason not to come looking his nicest. Well, maybe not that. His most formal outfit was his dress blues and he wasn’t about to show up to a Quiller party in his military uniform. Though… for a moment he wondered if Eros would like to see him in that. Did Eros like a man in uniform? That was a damned good question in all honesty. Because if Eros did? Well he would for sure come decked out in his formal wear! Okay, now he was debating messaging Eros and asking if he would want to see that or if he should just go with the nice civilian wear he had.

Fuck it! He would go in his dress blues and find out, worst case scenario it made him look good and he could tell some fun stories. Besides, the dress uniform looked damned good since it was actually tailored to fit him rather than just being the right general size for him. He might be friends with the Quillers and work in the military but he wasn’t exactly rolling in money. Oh he lived comfortably enough but now wasn’t the time to think about it.

He decided to even go with the cap after he slicked his hair back. If he was going to go in his formal military attire he might as well go with the entire look, right? He grabbed the long coat and tossed it on, heading out of his place with a bit of an eager step. He was getting better at walking on his prosthetic leg, getting more used to the way it moved and reacted. That made walking around a hell of a lot easier and he’d gotten back into jogging as well which was nice. It was still strange at times and hard to forget that it was there but at least it was easier than it had been when he first got the leg.

The trip to the Quiller’s wasn’t all that eventful and he was greeted by his friends, making him grin as he stepped inside. The teasing, of course, was expected since he’d come in his formal attire. But he just laughed and joked back with them, not worrying about their comments in the least. It wasn’t like he was wearing it for them! And he was being very careful not to let his eyes wander around the room looking for a certain Quiller in particular. Though it was hard not to do he managed it… mostly.

Finally he was able to extract himself from his friends and find himself a drink and a chance to actually look around. Now he was wandering from room to room looking for Eros, drink in hand but hardly touched.
Then again he was forgetting a few key things. One, he was the Ace of Hearts and thus always in danger. Two, there were always people who would try something no matter where they were. Three, never let your guard down. These were simple things that he should have always kept in mind but he'd been cocky and over confident. Or maybe he was just so damn tired of constantly having to be on guard. It was an exhausting thing after all to try to keep his guard up that much.

He'd been drinking, he knew that much. But it hadn't been enough to make the room spin as badly as it was. But nothing seemed stable any more, least of all the arm wrapped around him and the body he was being pressed into. It smelled of… sour sweat and grease. It wasn't a pleasant scent and it upset his already on edge stomach. It made him groan and try to push away from the stranger. But he heard vague words and the arm tightened around him.

He managed to catch a glimpse of the room and his eyes locked on Fenris. Oh! Fenris! He liked Fenris. Fenris was good. He didn't want to smile but his lips curled into one anyway as he reached for the man, except they were a room apart and there was no way Fenris was reaching him. Not quickly anyway with how packed things were tonight.

Besides, the gross smelling body was pushing him down a hallway into a darkened nook in the wall. He didn't want to go and made a sound of protest but it was ignored and muffled as a hand moved over his mouth. Whatever drug they'd given him was making him feel hot and dizzy, his heart racing as he groaned and closed his eyes. Was it possible to be incredibly horny and nauseous at the same time? It would seem so because that was his current state.

He felt the cool wood of the wall at his back and sighed, slumping against it even as a body pressed against his front. He wrinkled his nose and made a disgusted sound, trying to push them away with arms that didn't want to cooperate. He could feel hands on his body, tugged at his clothing and slipping inside it. And he wasn't sure if he was speaking out loud or not as he kept saying the word no over and over again. He didn't want these hands touching him, and certainly didn't want them down his pants! Not that his overheated body was seemingly in agreement as his cock was hard. But that didn't mean anything with the drugs in his system making him that way, right? Right. Fuck that! He didn't want this gross smelling asshole touching him! But his brain was too fuzzy to stop him. Shit….

Too many people thought of nights as scary, full of spooks and haunts that crawled out of the destruction around them to strike fear into their hearts. It was frankly amusing as fuck if you asked Neilos. This world was already full of horrible things and the majority of that was the very humans that still existed. They were often far worse to each other than anything else could be. It was literally a human eat human world out here! Or, okay, zombie eat human. But then again he was pretty sure more than one person had purposefully left a person outside the protections of these walls in order to get rid of them without actually having to deal with them. It wasn’t like that was unheard of and it was certainly not a bad way to do it. No one would go looking for someone lost outside the wall and everyone would just accept that they were dead. And the rest of the time? Well enough people were forced into quite a few shitty situations here in the slums to qualify as humans being worse to other humans. So the things people should fear were the very people walking around alongside them.

Maybe that was why Neilos didn’t really have the same fear of exploring this area at night that others did. Or maybe it was just that he was too used to it. He owned an establishment down here and ran it well. The Red Door was his and he owed his fealty to the Hearts branch of the Jaberwockies. That meant he dealt in flesh and paid his dues but it also meant he was well acquainted with the seedy side of things. And he thought he’d seen it all.

Until he walked past a darker than average, really that wasn’t saying a lot here when everything was dark, and a sight greeted him that was strange as fuck. Was that someone… sucking on another person’s neck? Yeah, he was pretty sure his eyes were showing him that exact thing but it seemed weird. It wasn’t like they were making out, no hickies going on here. He was used to seeing that shit and that didn’t quite look like this. This looked… more like the guy was trying to suck the life out of the other figure. Okay, so maybe he was just really bad at making out? That was possible. Some people didn’t know how to properly leave a lover with marks that would highlight just the kind of fun they had the night before.

Of course he was somewhat of a judgmental perfectionist on all these things after all. As portrayed by the way he dressed and held himself. His back was straight and his shoulders back, chin up just slightly with a sort of confident pride that suggested he knew his own worth and wasn’t afraid to throw his weight around, minimal as it literally was. Every blonde hair was perfectly straight and fell like a waterfall of silk down his back, not a single sign of frizz or flyaway in sight. Make-up applied with precision as well as flare! Deep red lips and smokey eyes creating a memorable appearance for sure. Plus the flowing black fabric of what amounted to a kimono styled garment was all perfectly pressed and without a wrinkle in sight.

He kept watching for a few silent seconds before he moved into the mouth of the alleyway, walking as quietly as he could towards the very strange and unusual scene before him.

There's an underlying sense of danger as the Major returns to the familiar halls — a simmering, bubbling feeling of anticipation and adrenaline mixed together with dread. Very little rattles the monster; he has a lot up his sleeve when it comes to manipulating others to do his bidding. But this? This sense of unknowing what may lurk behind closed doors — a foreboding sense of danger at being found out causes an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of his stomach. Fangs itch and claw at his gums from the inside, aching from the need to feel out his emotions in a much more carnal and sanguine matter. The need to rip and tear burns his throat, but the vampire does his best to ignore such bestial urges. It wouldn't do him any good when heading directly into the wolf's nest.

He'd told the man he would be available for any future samples that might be required of him — it seems their last interaction hadn't quite scared off Micah. Not yet anyway. Although North had won in their little competition of wills last time, he wasn't so complacent to believe he could do the same this time. Micah had gotten the samples he requested — what had come of that testing? What would make him call the Major to his labs once again? A toothy grin as he wonders if the scientist had merely just enjoyed their little... Play last time, and wanted something more. It was the mask he would choose to wear, if only to hide the unease hiding in his gut.

His foot moves to an uneasy tempo against the ground as he stands at the back of the elevator, arms crossed against his chest as he leans on the wall. Impatience. Technology moves too slow for a creature that is built on speed and stamina. He could probably run quicker than the elevator—

The doors swing open — stark white nearly blinds him.

It's an interesting difference from the concrete greys of the rest of the Military Compound, built upon a need for protection rather than aesthetics. But the labs of Cypher were built to be pristine in appearance. Does it make the little scientists happy, he wonders; does it make them forget all the blood and gore of the outside world?

Shaking his thoughts away, North leaves the elevator and heads down the various different winding hallways that will lead him to where Micah's laboratory is — he remembers it well, even having been there only once before. A mind like a steel trap, and jaws to suit. His fangs ache once more but he does his best to swallow back the monster inside that wants to leap out of his very skin and slaughter everything in his path. When was the last time he'd fed? Far too long ago, probably, if his urges are still violent within his own mind. North pinches the bridge of his nose to shake free the intrusive thoughts as he stands at the entrance to the lab.

Micah Scofield, M.D, the nameplate next to the door reads. The vampire pauses for a moment at the threshold, as if to better steel his emotions, before he steps into the radius of the automatic doors and allows them to thrust themselves open in greeting.

The night is young as people would say as Linden smoothed out his suit again. Extravagant parties like these were fun, sure, but not always his cup of tea. However, his mother said that the family needed to make an appearance in society every now and again. His siblings got the last ones and now it was his turn.

Like a high roller, Linden stepped out of one of the few luxury cars that they had in possession in a suit suitable for this gothic themed masquerade. The local designer was top notch and it always felt awkward whenever he had to wear whatever they made. Why? The fit was like a glove.

The seemingly seamless long sleeved black shirt that was thin and sheer hugged him like a second skin. The vest gave some coverage and was lightweight like the slacks he wore that would help him from overheating. It was the jacket that probably weighed the most with its extravagant embroidery around the color that spread to the opening of his chest and shoulders before it would begin to taper away at the waist. All of these embellishments that were meant to go with the mask in his possession.

There was no need to present an invitation card based on the way he was dressed as he climbed up stairs and could feel the heat emanate from the entrance. Taking a deep breath, Linden stepped forward as he brought the mask up and donned it on. Finding it very comfortable and easy to see despite the metal wires that were woven into it. Tying the back of it behind his head and entered the dark flickering entrance hall to gaze down at the main hallway where shadows danced.

"Let's get this over with," he sighed and walked down the hall. The sound of music the traditional dark waltz just loud enough to be heard but not enough to drown out sound of chatter. Soon, the hallway led him to large wooden doors that soon opened for dramatic effect that would have some turn to gaze at who came in before going back to their own little world.

Being given such an opportunity meant Linden found some champagne and decided to hide. Though it seemed others thought of the same thing as they started the debauchery early. The bustle dress already hiked up as the man acted like a dog in heat with how fast his hips moved. With the roll of his eyes and sound of disgust, Linden walked the other way to let those two have their moment and proceeded to upstairs. Finishing the one flute and grabbing another as he decided to get a birds eye view of everything without getting a show.
It has been five years since the accident and Linden swore that every time he came to the hospital it just kept getting worse. This growth spurt of his sucked ass at 18 and now here he was face down on a bed after a few days post surgery. He swore that with every scar revision and tissue expansion made him wish he just died instead. Sure, that may seem harsh to his 13 year old self back then but it was the truth.
Hell, just knowing that for the next five years or more included more of this made him just want to say "fuck it" but knew better. While the scars will always be there, he needed to be able to move and function. Physical therapy was going to be a bitch too and once he stops growing then grafting can happen next. Though the Doctor's told him that the sensitivity that affects him won't go away but he can aid in it if he saw a massage therapist.

"Such a fucking torture session," he griped and sighed.Lying prone sucked and right now he would kill for another pillow under his midsection. Deciding that it was time for a change of scenery, Linden turned his head to face the other bed that was next to him. The room was plane and white, devoid of any personality, and felt more like a prison than a place to be taken care of. Oh, and let's not discuss the medicinal smell mixed with other odors he didn't want to know.

However, what made his stay bearable these past few days was because of the person he shared the room with. It was obvious that they weren't close but Linden was the type to have a friend everywhere he went. "Psst, Damon," their name being easy to remember after the nurse told him that he was being transferred into their room. Hoping that his bubbly personality will make both of their stays better. "How are you holding up? My offer still stands and I will take you on thumb war."

Linden extended his hand out and realized that they were no way close enough for this anyways and tried to find the call button. "And seriously, we should have our beds just a little closer together you know? What if we wanted to do board games or puzzles? Have you eaten yet? If you did, do you know what they are serving?"

Perhaps he was annoying the other guy, but Linden hasn't gotten whacked or told to shut up yet. Besides, as long as he was mindful of the situation the other was in then he was sure things would be okay. Well, more like having manners and not asking someone what they were in for unless their body language seemed receptive.
The appointment was going to be upheld this time and Linden was not going to leave until he get some results. The bastard of the Financial Department wasn't going to ignore him this time. The company of Terrene was running like a well-oiled machine as Linden looked on the computer screen as the data from all the vertical platforms showed they were functioning properly. Donning on his light blue coat, he contained the curls under a bouffant and filled his pockets with disposable gloves.

"How far along are we with the soil tests from Sites A-E? The wells in Alpha Sector? The rain collection analysis?"

"The soil tests, last I heard, is still another day or two away. The wells in Alpha Sector are repaired and reinforced with an adequate pump. The data for the recent week of rain is above average and we have already begun the purification process."

"Okay, and our back-up resources, have there been any depletion? The Food Waste Program, how is that coming along?" Asked Linden as the assistant followed him out of the control room and down to the main floor where all the vertical platforms were for a visual inspection. The LED colored light algorithm working nicely as he but the main inspection were on for the roots and leaves to see if there were any deficiencies.

"We are accumulating quite nicely on the resources and the deep freeze warehouses are running strongly with weekly maintenance checks. As for the Food Waste Program, we are still getting push-back but we are lucky the Military is allowing us to do a delivery to the city slums once a month if we have anything. It's like some of the people in the Inner Citadel are allowing food to rot."

Ah, yes. The battle of power when it came to resources and the military seized his family's business because why give food to those who needed it and teach them how to grow their own garden? The basic necessities for humans to thrive was taken away as a way to exert control.

Linden would go to each platform to look over the physical charts before having his assistant make notes in the tablet. Taking out a pair of gloves to don on as he would reach in and take a random stem, mark it, and a trim of a root that was not part of the main grouping. "I know I say it all the time but damn, I do love aeroponics."

The assistant pressed a hand to their ear piece and leaned closer to Linden to whisper so no one else could hear. "It appears we have company, Mr. Arcangeli. Shall we head to the office?"

A frown appeared on his face as he let out a sigh and hung his head, but shook a "no". "If someone who is authorized decided to drop in then we continue operations. I am not changing my schedule around to suit their needs, they will suit mine. Every world in the multiverse is set on a collision course with the others. When the reality of one planet spills into another, the effects can be catastrophic - just ask the Travelers. Since the beginning of time, these protectors of the multiverse have witnessed the rise and fall of worlds and fought tirelessly to combat the Traversal Events that threaten this natural cycle.

But they are losing this war. With the breaches of reality growing ever more dangerous and their own numbers dwindling dangerously low, the Travelers have begun to race toward their seemingly inevitable demise, a future they will do anything to prevent. Meanwhile, the multiverse that they so desperately defend marches on without them: infinite worlds, each with their own struggles, utterly unaware of their protector's plight or that their very reality could rip itself apart at any moment.
